Ruse Municipality advances sports funding and club support

The Ruse Municipality is advancing several sports and youth initiatives. Under the ‘Sport 2026’ program, contracts have been prepared to support local sports clubs. Recent municipal activities include organizing a freestyle wrestling tournament at Lokomotiv Stadium, preparing for student games for the 2026/2027 school year, and organizing various tournaments in football, basketball, volleyball, and athletics.

Additionally, municipal councilor Plamen Rashev has proposed a one-time financial aid of 100,000 euros for the Dunav Ruse football club. This funding is intended to support the club’s expenses following its return to the First League, covering costs for championship participation, mandatory fees, transport, and match organization, as well as the development of its youth academy. The proposal requires approval from the Municipal Council; if passed, Mayor Pencho Milkov will sign an agreement with the club management to oversee the allocation and reporting of the funds.
