Rush reunion tour continues with new drummer Anika Nilles
The rock band Rush is continuing its ‘Fifty Something’ reunion tour, featuring original members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson alongside keyboardist Loren Gold and drummer Anika Nilles. Nilles, who stepped into the role following the passing of original drummer Neil Peart in 2020, has spoken about the challenges of the position, including the intense rehearsals and the emotional weight of replacing Peart. During the tour’s opening night at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, the band faced unexpected technical difficulties. The group reported being ‘drowning in fog’ during the opening song, ‘Xanadu,’ which obscured stage equipment and mirrors. Despite these hurdles and a moment where Nilles briefly dropped a drumstick, the band successfully completed the performance. The tour includes various stops, including recent sold-out shows in Chicago, and is scheduled to run through April 2027.
