Rush University Medical Center ranked fifth in U.S. academic medical centers

Rush University Medical Center has been ranked as the fifth highest-performing academic medical center in the United States by Vizient. This achievement marks the 14th consecutive year that Rush has earned a top 10 ranking from the healthcare performance improvement company.

The Vizient Quality and Accountability Study evaluated 1,346 participating hospitals based on anonymized patient data from electronic health records. The analysis focused on six key areas: mortality, efficiency, effectiveness, patient centeredness, safety, and variation in care, while also incorporating federal patient satisfaction survey data.

Rush has consistently been measured among the top five percent of Comprehensive Academic Medical Centers, a category defined by Vizient based on the volume and complexity of care provided, such as neurosurgical procedures and solid-organ transplants. Rush President and CEO Dr. Omar Lateef attributed the recognition to the dedication and skill of the hospital's employees.
