Two‑time NBA MVP Russell Westbrook is still a free agent after a month of the 2024 offseason. A viral post on X falsely claimed he had signed with the Philadelphia 76ers; the claim was traced to a parody account and has been debunked.

European clubs have shown genuine interest. Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos and Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv are reported to be evaluating Westbrook, and a Barcelona‑linked project led by Xavi Pascual (sometimes referred to as the "Dubai of Xavi Pascual") is also monitoring the veteran guard. Westbrook, 37, has moved through several NBA teams since leaving Oklahoma City in 2019, most recently playing for the Sacramento Kings, and his next destination remains uncertain.
