Russia accuses Ukraine of targeting Black Sea tankers to destabilize markets

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has accused the Kyiv regime of attempting to destabilize global energy and food markets through attacks on tankers in the Black Sea.

Zakharova specifically commented on the attack against the oil tanker ‘Aframax Rio’, which was traveling from Novorossiysk to India. She asserted that current food security difficulties are a direct consequence of Kyiv’s actions, which she claims are fueled by a sense of impunity resulting from irresponsible Western policies.

According to Zakharova, the West remains hypocritically silent regarding the true causes of global food market issues, including logistical obstacles created by the EU and sanctions imposed on Russian agricultural actors. She suggested that while Kyiv claims to be concerned about food security, its actual goal is to secure maritime supply channels for the Ukrainian armed forces.
