Russia accuses UN Secretary-General of supporting Bucha campaign

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has accused United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of consciously supporting an anti-Russian campaign regarding the events in Bucha. Zakharova characterized the incident as a ‘bloody provocation’ and claimed the UN Secretariat has failed to remain neutral.

Zakharova stated that despite multiple verbal and written requests over the past four years, Guterres has not provided Russia with the lists of individuals alleged to have died in Bucha. She noted that while Guterres informed Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that an investigation had been conducted and that the UN possesses certain confidential information, no specific details or lists have been shared with Moscow.

Following a lack of response to a letter sent by Lavrov in April containing 12 key questions about the Bucha events, the questions were subsequently made public. Zakharova asserted that the UN is acting as a biased party aligned with the Kyiv regime, NATO, and the West, adding that the organization will face responsibility for its perceived support of the provocation.
