Russia airstrikes kill six and damage Kiev North Bridge

Russian airstrikes in Ukraine have killed at least six people and caused significant damage to the North Bridge in Kiev. The strike has resulted in suspended traffic and major congestion for three consecutive days. This incident follows two days of Russian incursions that forced the total or partial closure of three of the six bridges spanning the Dnieper River in the capital.

Kiev Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported that the attack damaged the roadway and trolleybus cables. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed responsibility for the strike, stating the bridge is used to ‘facilitate the movement of troops and the logistics of military cargo deliveries’ for the Ukrainian armed forces.

Prior to the bridge strike, Russian forces targeted apartment blocks, supermarket warehouses, gas stations, and data centers. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced it would continue carrying out ‘massive retaliatory attacks’ against Kiev and other Ukrainian cities, advising foreign citizens and diplomats to leave the country.
