Russia allegedly provided Iran with satellite data for US target strikes
An investigation by CNN reports that Russia provided Iran with intelligence from its reconnaissance satellites to enhance the precision of Iranian strikes against United States military targets in the Middle East.
According to US officials and international intelligence sources, 14 Russian spy satellites flew over the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia just two days before an Iranian missile attack on March 27. The satellites reportedly conducted visual reconnaissance and communications interception, providing a comprehensive picture of the base's assets and movements.
The resulting Iranian strike injured 12 American soldiers and destroyed a US E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft, an early warning and control system valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. US officials expressed concern that this intelligence cooperation may not be an isolated incident but a continuing pattern that could be used to target other US command centers, logistics facilities, and maritime infrastructure throughout the region.
Moscow has denied providing such intelligence assistance to Tehran.
