Russia and India advance SJ-100 aircraft technology transfer

Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is nearing a significant milestone in a strategic industrial partnership with India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Over 80% of the licensing agreement for the SJ-100 regional aircraft has been completed.

Unlike standard commercial sales, this agreement focuses on a comprehensive industrial cooperation model. The strategy involves transferring manufacturing technologies, establishing local technical maintenance services, and creating domestic component supply chains. This approach aims to strengthen the international position of the SJ-100 through strategic partnerships.

Experts estimate that it will take at least five years for India to fully master the technology required to operate the aircraft, particularly regarding the integration of the domestic PD-8 engine. The process will require building new production lines from the ground up and implementing international-standard personnel training systems.
