Russia and Iran collaborate on supersonic missile technology

Russia and Iran are reportedly deepening their military cooperation through the transfer of advanced supersonic technology. According to investigations by the Financial Times, Moscow has provided technical expertise to assist Tehran in developing a new generation of supersonic cruise missiles, identified in documents as the C430L program.

The program, which reportedly began in 2023, focuses on ramjet propulsion technology. These missiles are capable of flying at several times the speed of sound and could potentially pose a significant threat to United States naval assets, such as aircraft carriers, in the Persian Gulf.

While Iran has reportedly constructed and tested certain components of the system, there is currently no confirmed evidence that an operational missile resulting from this collaboration has been deployed. This technological exchange follows previous cooperation involving Iranian Shahed drones provided to Russia for use in Ukraine, signaling a strategic partnership aimed at reducing Iran's technological dependence and enhancing its ballistic deterrence capabilities.
