Russia and Iran hold consultations on nuclear program and arms control
Russian and Iranian foreign ministry officials held consultations in Moscow to discuss arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation. A primary focus of the meeting was the prospects for resolving the Iranian nuclear program.
The Russian delegation was led by Postnikov, Director of the Department of Non-Proliferation and Arms Control, while the Iranian delegation was led by Pirkoohi, Director General of the Department of International Peace and Security. The two sides conducted a professional analysis of the challenges within these sensitive areas and discussed methods to strengthen coordination within international organizations and at major global events.
According to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions also addressed how to overcome crises triggered by US and Israeli actions toward Iran. Both nations expressed a commitment to maintaining close bilateral contact and regular dialogue as part of their comprehensive strategic partnership treaty.
