Russia and North Korea expand cooperation in education

Russia and North Korea are working to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of education. Russian Education Minister Sergey Kravtsov led a delegation to Pyongyang to meet with North Korean Education Minister Ri Yong-chol.

During the visit, the two officials discussed sharing educational successes and experiences to boost future exchanges. A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a supplementary agreement to establish and operate a Russian education center in North Korea. This center will be a partnership between the Pyongyang University of Education No. 2 and Russia's Blagoveshchensk State Pedagogical University, focusing on open education in Russian and teaching the Russian language.

This development follows a broader trend of deepening ties between the two nations in military and economic sectors since the signing of a mutual defense treaty in June 2024.
