Russia and Ukraine escalate aerial warfare and mobilization threats

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is experiencing an escalation in aerial warfare and strategic shifts. Analysts report a significant increase in the frequency and diversity of airstrikes, as both nations' offensive capabilities increasingly bypass existing air defense systems.

Ukraine has intensified its drone campaign targeting deep within Russian territory, shifting its focus from petroleum refineries to broader energy infrastructure, including electrical transformer stations, oil tankers, and logistics hubs. Ukrainian officials have also targeted commercial assets, such as Wildberries warehouses, arguing they serve as legitimate military supply nodes for Russian forces.

Concurrently, intelligence reports suggest Russia may prepare a massive mobilization of approximately 500,000 new soldiers. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that this move could be intended to increase troop numbers and exert psychological pressure on NATO. There are also concerns regarding potential measures to prevent Russian citizens from fleeing the country as mobilization efforts intensify.
