Russia and Ukraine exchange strikes on naval and military infrastructure

Russia and Ukraine have engaged in a new escalation of strikes involving deep-territory attacks and military infrastructure. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported seizing a settlement in the Kharkiv region of northeastern Ukraine and claimed continued advances in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Russia also claimed that a drone destroyed a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter jet stationed at an airport near Kyiv. In response, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced a deep-strike operation in the Krasnodar region, targeting infrastructure at the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk. Kyiv reported that the Russian frigate ‘Admiral Essen’ was targeted, resulting in a fire on the vessel’s superstructure, though these claims have not been independently verified.

Additionally, Ukrainian Special Operations Forces reported conducting operations against gas installations.
