Russia and US engage in talks regarding sanctions on Moscow investment fund
A communication channel has opened between Washington and Moscow to discuss the potential lifting of American sanctions on Russia’s primary state investment fund. Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov confirmed that consultations are underway, led by Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special envoy for President Vladimir Putin.
The discussions are part of a broader diplomatic effort by the Trump administration to reach an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine. Recent developments include the temporary lifting of sanctions on Russian diesel, allowing exports to reach American and international markets. Additionally, President Trump signed an executive order removing tariffs and sanctions on certain Russian products.
