Russia attacks civilian sites in Ukraine as Zelensky urges stronger air defence

Russia struck several civilian locations in Ukraine, hitting passenger buses in Odesa, residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia and a hospital in the Kharkiv region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks, saying Russia is waging war against civilians and called for enhanced air‑defence systems.

Zelensky also urged the international community to apply new sanctions on Russia, provide additional aid packages for Ukraine and support the European anti‑ballistic initiative “Freya”. He noted that Ukraine had recently carried out a major drone strike on the Russian‑held Sijaran oil refinery, a key asset of Rosneft.

The president thanked supporters worldwide and said further meetings would be held to strengthen Ukraine’s security.
