Russia bans cockpit photography and video for pilots

The Russian Ministry of Transport has instructed airlines to prohibit pilots from taking photos or videos from the cockpit during flight operations. This ban also extends to the publication of such footage on the internet.

These new measures are part of broader efforts to enhance flight safety within Russian airspace, particularly around Moscow. This follows previous restrictions implemented by the aviation authority, Rosaviatsiya, including lowered maximum flight altitudes and bans on transit flights near the capital to mitigate risks from drone attacks.

Additionally, some carriers have faced operational constraints due to sanctions and parts shortages. For instance, S7 Airlines has restricted co-pilots from landing at most airports to prevent aircraft damage, as the airline lacks the spare parts necessary for repairs. Only captains are permitted to land aircraft in most instances to protect the existing fleet.
