Russia begins serial production of Starlink-disrupting electronic warfare system

Russia has commenced serial production of the ‘Volna Kupol Garant’ electronic warfare system, designed to disrupt Starlink satellite communications. The system functions by directing narrow-band, high-frequency radio beams at satellite receiving antennas to overload them, effectively preventing the reception of signals in targeted areas.

Technical specifications indicate the system utilizes a phased antenna array to create interference across eight satellite data transmission bands in the 14–14.5 GHz range. It can operate within a 360-degree azimuth and a 110-degree elevation sector. A single unit, weighing approximately 120 kilograms, is reportedly capable of covering an area of roughly 20 square kilometers.

Military expert Yuri Knutov notes that unlike conventional jamming that targets ground terminals, this system targets the satellite frequencies themselves. This capability is intended to disrupt the command and control infrastructure used by Ukrainian forces, potentially leaving them with limited communication and navigation capabilities for unmanned aerial vehicles.
