Russia calls for Kosovo to return to Serbian administration

Russia has called for Kosovo and Metohija to be returned to the administration of Belgrade to avoid a catastrophic scenario. Speaking at an OSCE Permanent Council meeting, diplomat Vadim Volgarov emphasized that any solution must strictly adhere to the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

Volgarov criticized the current situation, stating that the local Serbian population is in an increasingly desperate position due to the actions of local authorities. He reported a rise in violence against Serbs, claiming that between 2021 and 2026, there were 800 ethnically motivated attacks on the Serbian population in the region. He urged the Swiss OSCE presidency and other relevant structures to prioritize the deteriorating situation of the Serbian community.
