Russia and Ukraine dispute control of Sumy settlement
Conflicting reports have emerged regarding territorial control in the Sumy region. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed to have captured the settlement of Novokostiantynivka, a claim that Ukraine’s Kursk Group of Forces has rejected. Ukrainian officials stated that the settlement remains under their control and accused Russia of using unsubstantiated territorial gains for domestic propaganda.
In other sectors, Russian forces are reported to be advancing toward Sumy, having reportedly driven Ukrainian troops out of Pisarevka. Fighting is also described as ongoing in Khoten, Kiyanitsa, and Marino. In the Zaporozhye direction, Russian units are reportedly engaged in clearing Dolinka and fighting in Orekhov and Novosoloshino, while Ukrainian forces attempt counterattacks.
