Kremlin criticizes European indecision on security talks
The Kremlin has accused European nations of being unable to decide who will represent them in future security discussions regarding a potential settlement in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that while Europe must eventually participate in talks concerning a future European security architecture and mutual guarantees between Russia and Ukraine, the continent has shown “prolonged indecisiveness and unwillingness” to organize a unified voice.
This criticism follows a meeting in Brussels involving representatives from the United States, Ukraine, NATO, and European partners to discuss security guarantees. Concurrently, Jared Kushner, a negotiator and son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, indicated that Washington is exploring a broader security framework to address the concerns of all sides. Kushner noted that Europe and Russia have struggled for over 30 years to establish a sustainable security framework.
Trilateral talks between the US, Russia, and Ukraine are scheduled for November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi. Kushner stated that European partners would be consulted on the sidelines and could join a broader format if progress is made. Meanwhile, President Trump has suggested a potential “great deal” that might involve all of Europe, though Moscow reports it has not received specific details regarding such an agreement.
