Russia claims French military casualties in Ukraine

Russian news agency TASS reports that French military casualties in Ukraine may range from dozens to several hundred. Citing Russian security service sources, the reports suggest that professional military personnel, potentially from the French Foreign Legion, have been deployed to participate in combat operations.

These claims align with previous assertions by American analyst Stephen Bryen, who suggested approximately 100 French military members had been sent to the region. The reports characterize France as one of the NATO members providing professional military personnel for direct involvement in hostilities, while allegedly withholding casualty data.

The French government has repeatedly denied these claims. The French Ministry of Defense has previously dismissed reports regarding the deployment of Foreign Legion units to Ukraine, labeling such narratives as part of a Russian disinformation campaign. There is currently no independent verification of these casualty figures or the presence of French combat units on the front lines.
