Russia claims to be the sole guarantor of Ukrainian sovereignty
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Moscow remains the only guarantor of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. During a press briefing, Zakharova claimed that Western nations do not actually require an independent Ukraine, describing their interest in the country as ‘purely utilitarian.’
Zakharova argued that the West views Ukraine as a territory for neocolonial resource exploitation and a ‘trampoline’ for projecting threats against Russia. She asserted that the ultimate goal of Western allies is to weaken Russia by ‘bleeding Ukraine dry.’ Furthermore, she suggested that the future of the current regime in Kyiv is ‘absolutely predetermined,’ despite what she characterized as Western indifference.
