Russia claims US understands Ukraine settlement terms after Putin talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the situation in Ukraine with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan during the BRICS summit in New Delhi. The Crown Prince confirmed that the United Arab Emirates remains ready to host negotiations regarding the conflict.

Following a multi-hour conversation between Putin and US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner on September 5, the Kremlin stated that the United States has gained a better understanding of Russia’s position regarding a potential Ukraine settlement. While progress on territorial questions is viewed as a step toward broader agreements, Kremlin aide Ushakov noted that many other issues must still be settled.
