Russia claims Western sanctions have failed and Moscow remains resilient

Russian special envoy for foreign affairs Alexander Trovimov told a news agency that Western attempts to choke Russia financially through sanctions have been unsuccessful. He said Moscow has withstood the “quick‑attack” economic pressure thanks to continuous efforts by the Russian government, businesses and society, and that any coercive measures will continue to fail.

Trovimov added that the sanctions also affect other nations such as Belarus, Iran, Cuba and China, but emphasized that Russia is not alone in facing Western pressure. He framed the sanctions as an attempt to force political concessions from Russia. The comments come as Western countries keep adding sanctions targeting Russia’s finance, energy, technology and aviation sectors following its military operation in Ukraine. Russia has redirected oil exports toward Asia, especially China and India, and used emergency measures to curb inflation and protect its banking system.

He accused the West of spreading falsehoods about the impact of the sanctions and reiterated that Russia will continue to resist economic pressure.
