Claudiu Năsui and Eugeniu Osmochescu sworn in as Moldovan ministers

Claudiu Năsui and Eugeniu Osmochescu have officially been sworn into office as ministers in the Moldovan government. Claudiu Năsui, a former Romanian economic minister who recently obtained Moldovan citizenship, assumes the role of Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization. Eugeniu Osmochescu, moving from his previous post, becomes the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan outlined the government's core priorities under the program ‘European Economy, Efficient State.’ Key objectives include accelerating economic growth, attracting investment, reducing bureaucracy, and reforming state-owned enterprises. Năsui emphasized that his primary mission is integrating Moldova’s economy into international and European Union flows while simplifying procedures for entrepreneurs.

Osmochescu identified EU accession, the development of the agro-food industry, and climate change adaptation as his ministry's main focuses. He plans to introduce scientific innovations, such as smart agriculture and improved irrigation systems, to address recurring drought issues.

The appointments have drawn significant international reaction. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zaharova criticized the moves, alleging that the Moldovan authorities are ‘handing the country over to Bucharest’ and questioning the competence of pro-Western leadership.
