Russia criticizes NATO over Arctic exercises and historical bombings

The Russian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a statement commemorating the victims of the 1995 NATO bombings in Republika Srpska. The embassy noted that during the period from August 30 to September 14, 1995, 54 members of the Republika Srpska Army and civilians were killed, and over 120 were wounded. The statement criticized NATO for its willingness to sacrifice civilians and raised concerns regarding the long-term consequences of the use of depleted uranium munitions in the region.

Separately, Russian officials have characterized recent NATO military exercises in the Arctic as a signal of preparation for conflict with Russia. Following the ‘Arctic Guardian’ mission conducted by the United Kingdom, the United States, and Norway on Jan Mayen island, Moscow described these maneuvers as a demonstration of military capability that poses a direct threat and increases the risk of armed confrontation.
