Russia declares peace negotiations with Ukraine “completely blocked”
The Kremlin has announced that peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are “completely blocked,” with spokesperson Dmitri Peskov stating that “there are no new ideas.” Moscow has previously indicated it is awaiting new proposals from U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, following the expiration of the agreement reached during the Anchorage summit.
Peskov emphasized that Ukraine is aware of Russian demands, specifically the requirement for Kyiv to withdraw troops from the entire Donbas region. He noted that because Ukraine is unwilling to discuss these terms peacefully, Russia will continue its military operations on the front lines.
Additionally, Peskov stated that President Vladimir Putin does not intend to hold discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump. Putin has also dismissed recent ceasefire proposals from Kyiv regarding air and maritime security, labeling them “exotic” and accusing Ukraine of attempting to open a “Pandora’s box” by targeting Russian territory.
