Russia delivers 750 tons of sunflower oil to Cuba via UN

Russia has delivered more than 750 tons of vitamin-fortified sunflower oil to Cuba to support vulnerable populations. The shipment was facilitated through the United Nations' World Food Programme (WFP) as part of Moscow's biennial contribution to the agency.

The aid is intended for high-risk groups, including children, the elderly, and pregnant women. The delivery was marked by a ceremony in Havana attended by Cuban officials, including Vice Prime Minister Óscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, and Russian Ambassador Victor Koronelli.

This assistance arrives as Cuba faces a severe food crisis characterized by scarcity and declining production. The Russian Ministry of Emergencies funded the shipment, which follows previous deliveries of similar products to the island in 2025.
