Russia demands explanation from Turkey and U.S. over potential missile sales to Ukraine

Russia has formally requested explanations from both Washington and Ankara regarding Turkey’s reported intent to seek U.S. permission to sell a heavy ammunition package, including ballistic missiles, to Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that such a shipment would open a ‘new Pandora’s box’ and prolong the conflict, leading to increased casualties and destruction. Zakharova emphasized that this move deals a heavy blow to bilateral relations between Russia and both the United States and Turkey.

Furthermore, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Turkey’s actions contradict previous assurances made by Turkish authorities to refrain from delivering lethal weapons to Kyiv. Russia maintains that these developments undermine mutual trust and complicate efforts toward a political or diplomatic solution to the crisis.
