Russia digital camera market hits six-year high

The digital camera market in Russia has experienced a significant surge, reaching a six-year high in the first half of 2026. Despite the widespread use of smartphones, consumers purchased 219,000 digital cameras between January and June 2026, a figure more than 2.5 times higher than the same period in 2020.

While unit sales increased by 10.8% compared to the first half of 2025, total revenue saw a much sharper rise of 47.5%, jumping from 3.11 billion rubles to 4.58 billion rubles. This discrepancy indicates that consumers are increasingly opting for higher-end, more expensive models.

The market shows a distinct split between volume and value. Unbranded manufacturers lead in unit volume with over 51% market share, followed by the Chinese brand W&O at 17.1%. However, established global brands dominate in revenue; Canon leads with a 35.7% share of total value, followed by Sony.
