Russia rejects Black Sea ceasefire and vows to intensify efforts against Western support for Ukraine
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has announced that Moscow will intensify efforts to dismantle Western support for Ukraine, stating that Russia will not cease hostilities until a sustainable, long-term solution is achieved. Lavrov rejected the idea of freezing combat along current front lines, arguing it would undermine historical achievements. He also accused the United States of providing intelligence to facilitate Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory.
Regarding maritime security, Russia has rejected a proposal—reportedly conveyed by Ukraine through a third party—to cease attacks on civilian targets in the Black Sea. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova characterized Ukrainian maritime actions as “terrorist acts” intended to destabilize civilian shipping. While Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has suggested a moratorium on military operations in the Black Sea, Moscow claims it has not received an official proposal from Turkey.
In the context of the ongoing conflict, the Russian Ministry of Defense has signaled potential winter attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, using Shahed drone imagery to issue warnings. Ukraine has responded by suggesting retaliatory strikes against Russian fuel and energy facilities. Additionally, recent Russian strikes in the Sumy region reportedly killed a 29-year-old mother and her 9-year-old son, while strikes on the Izmail port railway station were also reported.
