Russia expands Su-57 fighter fleet and develops drone-control capabilities
Russia is advancing its military aviation capabilities with the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter. Air Force Commander Sergey Kobylash stated the aircraft is the central element for achieving Russian air superiority, noting the fleet has expanded to approximately 50–60 aircraft. The Su-57 is capable of precision strikes and engaging cruise missiles and drones.
Mikhail Strelets, director of Sukhoi, announced that a two-seat version of the Su-57 could serve as an aerial control point for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Additionally, a new version of the aircraft is expected to incorporate combat artificial intelligence developed by specialized design offices.
In separate developments, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that Russian forces intercepted 201 drones during an offensive involving approximately 600 drones over the Moscow region. The incident resulted in three injuries.
