Russia expresses readiness for cooperation with Italy amid diplomatic tensions

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Russia remains ready to resume constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation with Italy. However, she attributed the current lack of full bilateral contact to the 'anti-Russian' policies of the Italian government.

Zakharova suggested that official Rome lacks the political will to act in the interests of its citizens, claiming the government follows the demands of Brussels and other capitals rather than its own people.

These comments follow statements from the Russian Ambassador to Italy, Alexey Paramonov, who asserted that a majority of Italians resist official propaganda. Paramonov noted that social media reflects significant support for Russia among various sectors of Italian society, including opposition politicians, intellectuals, and civil society.
