Russia extends diesel export ban until late October
Russia has extended its ban on most diesel exports until the end of October. The decision aims to ensure domestic fuel market stability and account for increased demand during the harvest season.
In addition to diesel, the Russian government has also extended export restrictions on most bunker fuels and gasoil through late October. These measures follow a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian refineries, which have driven crude oil processing levels to multi-year lows.
Prior to these restrictions, Russia represented roughly 10% of the global seaborne diesel supply. The reduction in supply, combined with disruptions in oil flows from the Middle East, has contributed to rising global fuel prices. Meanwhile, the United States is reportedly considering similar restrictions on its own fuel exports.
