Russia halts Kinzhal missile production, shifts focus to Iskander and satellites

Ukrainian military intelligence officials report that Russia has suspended the mass production of Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles due to issues with accuracy and vulnerability to electronic warfare and Patriot missile systems. Resources, including funding and components, are being redirected to increase the production of Iskander ballistic missiles. In July, Russia reportedly produced 65 Iskander missiles, exceeding its monthly target of 60.

Additionally, Russia is accelerating the deployment of its Rassvet satellite constellation, which aims to function similarly to SpaceX’s Starlink. While the system currently operates intermittently, Russia plans to expand the constellation to 292 satellites by 2027 and 924 by 2035.

Intelligence reports also indicate that Moscow has met its annual production targets for Zircon and Oniks missiles within the first seven months of the year, exceeding 2026 production goals by 10% to 20%.
