Ukraine strikes Russian airfield, destroying two Su-34 bombers
The Ukrainian Navy reported the destruction of two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers during a missile strike on the Marinovka military airfield in the Volgograd region. The attack utilized the long-range Neptune missile system to target the 11th Mixed Aviation Regiment, which is part of the 4th Air and Air Defense Forces Army.
In response to increasing Ukrainian strikes, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov announced that Moscow has established a list of strategic targets for protection. These priority sectors include transport, energy, trade, logistics, information infrastructure, and major industrial enterprises. Russia is implementing active and passive defense measures, including the creation of mobile fire groups and strengthening rescue and repair brigades to protect critical infrastructure.
Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia is preparing new ballistic missile attacks. He appealed to Western allies for an urgent increase in interceptor missiles, specifically for Patriot defense systems, noting that current supplies are insufficient to meet the monthly demand. Zelenskyy also emphasized that sanctions against the Russian defense industry must be accelerated to limit Moscow's production capabilities.
