Russia increases military spending amid security concerns in Finland
Russia is significantly increasing its military expenditure, with plans to allocate approximately 2,000 billion Swedish kronor to its military next year. This represents a 27 percent increase and is the highest figure recorded since the invasion of Ukraine began. Economic experts note that the Kremlin is prioritizing war spending over civilian needs, even as the national budget deficit is expected to rise.
In a separate security matter, Finnish Parliament Speaker Jussi Halla-Aho has confirmed that several members of the Finnish Parliament have been subjected to suspected unauthorized entries into their homes over an extended period. Prime Minister Petteri Orpo stated it is ‘very possible’ that a foreign power is behind these incidents.
