Russia intensifies advances in southeastern Ukraine

Russian forces have intensified operations in southeastern Ukraine, reportedly seizing 19 settlements across the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. This summer campaign includes increased use of ballistic missiles, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reporting the deployment of North Korean weaponry against Ukrainian targets.

Recent strikes in Zaporizhzhia at the Metinvest plant resulted in seven civilian deaths and 21 injuries. In Dnipropetrovsk, drone and artillery attacks killed three civilians, including a 15-year-old. Zelenskyy has noted that Russia is exploiting a shortage of Patriot air defense systems to intensify its strikes.

Beyond territorial gains, Russian operations are targeting Ukrainian maritime and logistical infrastructure. The sinking of the German cargo ship Emil, capable of carrying 175,000 tons, highlights efforts to disrupt both military supplies and agricultural exports. Reports indicate that Russian forces are increasingly adapting electronic warfare and operational tactics to counter Western-supplied military technology.
