Russia targets OnlyFans models in crackdown on adult content

Russian authorities are intensifying crackdowns on adult content creators and OnlyFans models, citing the protection of “traditional values.” The legal actions involve raids, equipment seizures, heavy fines, and potential imprisonment.

One notable case involves 21-year-old Sofya Vershinina, known online as “Sonya Marmeladova.” She was convicted of distributing pornographic material and received a three-year suspended sentence, a significant fine of approximately 38,500 to 50,000 euros, and a three-year ban on internet access. Other influencers, including 27-year-old Diana Shurygina and 24-year-old Anastasia Oysaannikova, have also faced arrest or detention.

Legal experts warn that the crackdown may extend beyond the models themselves to include the entire production ecosystem, such as photographers, managers, and technicians. Simultaneously, the Russian government has been blocking access to various erotic websites and restricting digital content to increase state control over the online space.
