Russia intensifies strikes on Kyiv bridges amid Ukrainian military shifts

Russian forces have intensified strikes against bridges over the Dnieper River in Kyiv, impacting transportation and logistics. Attacks on the South and North bridges in early October have caused traffic congestion and restricted movement for residents and emergency services. While the bridges remain functional, the strikes have complicated the movement of people and supplies between the city's eastern and western banks.

Military analyst Hamish McGeorge suggests these tactics might indicate a return to influence by General Sergei Surovikin, though this remains an assessment rather than a confirmed decision. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed the bridges were being used for military transport.

Concurrently, Ukrainian war veteran Yevhenii Dykyi stated that the Ukrainian military is currently in its strongest position in years, particularly following operations in the Kursk region. He noted that Russia's increased strikes on the rear are a response to this improved frontline stability. Dykyi highlighted the significance of Operation Vivaldi in the Lyman direction, where the Azov Third Army Corps is testing new coordination methods, including the use of robotic systems where infantry moves behind drones to enhance combat effectiveness.
