Russia issues threats against UK involving Poseidon nuclear torpedoes

Russian state media has issued threats against the United Kingdom, suggesting the use of the ‘Poseidon’ nuclear-capable torpedo. This rhetoric follows continued UK support for Ukraine, specifically regarding the supply of drones used in strikes within Russian territory. Russian state television host Vladimir Solovyov suggested the weapon could be used to target the British coastline.

The Poseidon is a strategic weapon system designed to be carried by submarines, such as the Khabarovsk, which has begun sea trials. The torpedo is reportedly capable of triggering tsunamis. Additionally, a map shared by former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has identified 23 potential military and industrial targets within the UK.

Amidst these escalations, analysts note increasing economic and social pressures within Russia. While the country has not reached a state of collapse, there are growing discrepancies between official narratives and the realities of the ongoing conflict, which has entered its fifth year.
