Moscow region targeted by massive wave of 600+ Ukrainian drones
Ukraine and Russia have significantly escalated long-range drone and missile warfare, resulting in multiple casualties and infrastructure damage on both sides. In a massive overnight operation, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that approximately 620 drones were directed toward the Moscow region, with air defenses intercepting hundreds.
The attacks in the Moscow region caused several injuries, including a 10-year-old girl, and damaged residential buildings and warehouses. Notably, a Wildberries logistics warehouse was hit, causing fires. Power outages were reported for over 5,000 consumers in the Pavlovo-Posad district.
In Ukraine, Russian missile and drone strikes targeted critical infrastructure, including an ArcelorMittal steel plant in Kryvyi Rih, which resulted in at least two deaths and 14 injuries. Other strikes hit a book market in Kyiv and various regions including Zaporizhia, Sumy, and Donetsk.
In Russia's Belgorod region, Ukrainian missile strikes killed at least six people and wounded four others. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed to have intercepted 822 Ukrainian drones during the recent wave of attacks.
