Kyiv hit by massive Russian missile attack, killing at least 12 FAST-MOVING

A massive Russian missile and drone attack struck Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight, resulting in at least 12 deaths and dozens of injuries. The strikes targeted residential buildings, warehouses, an educational institution, and a children's hospital. In the Solomianskyi district, a nine-story residential building was severely damaged, causing fires and leaving some residents trapped.

In the Brovary district of the Kyiv region, one person was killed and another injured when an industrial facility was hit. Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has declared August 21 a day of mourning for the victims. The attack involved a combination of ballistic, cruise, and hypersonic missiles, alongside a large number of Shahed-type drones.

The scale of the bombardment prompted Poland to scramble fighter jets and activate air defense systems to protect its airspace, particularly near the Ukrainian border. Additionally, a drone entered Romanian airspace near Galati before crashing in an uninhabited area of the Tulcea district. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine's lack of sufficient anti-ballistic air defense systems remains a critical vulnerability that must be addressed to ensure peace.
