Russia launches missile strikes across 12 Ukrainian regions
Russia conducted a massive wave of missile attacks targeting 12 regions of Ukraine, including the capital, Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the strikes involved 21 ballistic missiles launched in three stages. The attacks caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, energy facilities, railway stations, metro services, shopping centers, and a monastery.
At least two people have been confirmed dead and 34 others injured, including five children. Emergency services are currently working to provide aid and assess the extent of the destruction. Zelenskyy noted that the timing of the strikes, occurring shortly after a round of negotiations, reflects Russia's current stance on the conflict.
In a separate development regarding potential peace negotiations, President Zelenskyy stated in an interview that he is willing to consider a ceasefire that freezes the current front lines, which would leave Ukraine with approximately 75 percent of its territory. He expressed hope for positive outcomes from diplomatic engagements, including discussions with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff.
