As a result, international eSIMs purchased before arrival have become the most realistic option for mobile internet access in Russia. Travelers are advised to first check if their existing mobile plans offer reasonable roaming rates in Russia, as some users have reported successful connectivity using home carrier roaming in cities like Moscow and Saint Petersburg. If roaming is unavailable or prohibitively expensive, an international eSIM serves as a primary or backup solution.
