Russia monitors Serbia ahead of upcoming elections

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that Moscow is closely monitoring the situation in Serbia as the country prepares for upcoming extraordinary parliamentary and presidential elections.

Zakharova emphasized Russia's readiness to maintain close and substantive cooperation with the Serbian leadership across bilateral, regional, and international agendas. She noted that Russian-Serbian relations are built on shared values and a similar worldview, which she believes contributes to peace and stability in the Balkans.

Furthermore, Zakharova expressed appreciation for President Aleksandar Vučić’s role in developing bilateral ties, specifically highlighting his efforts to maintain the relationship despite what she described as constant and strong pressure from the West to distance Belgrade from Moscow.
