Italian Senate rules out passing electoral law before summer holidays

Senate President Ignazio La Russa told reporters that the electoral law will not be approved before the summer break. He said there is no agreement on an earlier deadline and that the bill will remain with the Constitutional Affairs committee for further work. La Russa indicated the first plenary discussion could take place in early September, after the parliamentary recess, allowing time for committee hearings, audits and any needed amendments before a final vote.
