Russia-North Korea bridge may serve as covert military route

A new road bridge spanning the Tumen River is nearing completion, marking the first direct road connection between Russia and North Korea. While officially intended to bolster trade and tourism, analysts express concern regarding its potential military utility.

The Ukrainian human rights organization Truth Hounds, utilizing satellite imagery, suggests the bridge could serve as a covert supply route. Unlike the existing railway line, which is easier to monitor via railcar inspections, the road bridge allows for the transport of military personnel, weapons, and equipment in vehicles that are significantly harder to inspect and track via satellite.

This development follows reports that North Korea has already provided Russia with ammunition, missiles, and approximately 14,000 soldiers. Ukrainian officials estimate that an additional 30,000 troops may be en route to Russia.
