Russia oil and gas revenues surge amid rising energy prices

Russian oil and gas revenues saw a significant increase in October, more than doubling compared to the previous month. According to Ministry of Finance data, net revenues reached approximately 11.9 billion dollars, up from 5.54 billion dollars in September.

This growth was driven by a spike in energy prices, influenced by supply disruptions in the Middle East and volatility in the Strait of Hormuz. Brent crude oil prices reached around 115 dollars per barrel in October, while natural gas futures on the Dutch TTF exchange traded above 103 euros per megawatt-hour.

Despite the monthly surge, year-to-date revenues from January to October recorded a 14.07 percent decline compared to the previous year, totaling roughly 78.91 billion dollars.

Additionally, maritime oil exports rose in early November despite ongoing Ukrainian attacks on energy infrastructure. Data indicates that for the four weeks ending November 1, maritime exports averaged 3.65 million barrels per day, reaching a five-week high. This increase occurred following a temporary lull in attacks on Russian refineries, which allowed for repairs and continued processing.
